Hi, I’m kathRYN.

The pregnancies and births of my two sons were wildly different, but they had one thing in common - I felt strong, confident, and empowered in my body, my capabilities, and my decisions.

When I was overwhelmed with data, books, articles, and documentaries, my doula guided me by sharing her knowledge and experience, and walked me through the decision making process so I could make informed decisions that were right for me and my babies.

She supported me physically, mentally, and emotionally, while simultaneously advocating for us and our birth preferences. The support was crucial as a birthing person, so I could focus on what was the most important to me - birthing my child, on my terms, in the manner I knew possible.

With her on my birth team, I discovered MY strength to birth. I was empowered. 

Now, I want to empower you. 

So many women feel disconnected with their pregnancy care and birth experience. I’m here to help you to feel confident in your body, your decisions, your birth experience, and your transition into motherhood no matter if it’s your first or your fifth baby. 

Through my doula training with Birth Arts International, and my experiences working with homebirth midwives as a birth assistant, I have a progressive, holistic approach to supporting you in your childbirth and postpartum journeys.

    I was worried about whether or not my husband would know how to support me during labor. At the recommendation of my midwife, I reached out to Kathryn, and immediately felt like we were on the same page about birth. While my labor threw us for a loop, and ultimately Kathryn was unable to be with us due to hospital policy, she continued to be available to me, my husband, and my sister through the whole hospital stay. Postpartum, she became a friend - sitting and listening to me about my experience, processing it, and offering support, encouragement, and validation.

    I can't imagine not having Kathryn as part of my birth team!

    As a doula myself, I know the value doulas bring to birth space. Even though this was my third baby, I still placed high value on having a strong support system. I remember calling Kathryn crying, because it was the longest I had ever been pregnant, and in the moment I thought I was going to be pregnant forever. I was very emotional, tired and ready to meet my baby. I remember feeling so comforted by that phone call! During early labor she was consistently checking in with me, and let me know she could meet us whenever I was ready for her. She didn’t make it to my birth (no one did - it was a car birth!), but I was comforted knowing she would already be there when we arrived.

    I had an anxiety-ridden pregnancy plagued by fears of failure and the unknown. After losing three babies in the year prior, Kathryn held me, encouraged me, and uplifted me. Ultimately, she aided me in making peace with my C-section, staying with me and my husband through the joy of a healthy delivery, and the bliss of a first nursing session. As soon as I was ready, Kathryn was there postpartum to help me with anything I put her up to, and she continued to check in with me over the next few weeks.

    I recommend Kathryn to anyone even thinking they may want a coach, advocate, friend, or doula on their team.

    I was struggling to find a provider whose practice was in line with my values and goal of a VBAC, and decided I needed to find a doula to support me - I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed. After my initial consultation with Kathryn, I felt freaking amazing! While my pregnancy was filled with stress and uncertainty, Kathryn was such a positive light in my life! When I got to the hospital, I was stuck in triage trying to turn down interventions. She helped talk me through what I was being asked to do so I could make informed decisions, supported me physically through contractions, and gave directions to my partner. Kathryn kept me grounded.
